One of the most common questions I get on tours: "How does faith fit into the school day?" Parents ask because they've been told different things at different Christian preschools. Some have Bible time as a scripted curriculum block; others sing worship songs during music. The honest answer at Grace is different from both — and it's the answer I think most parents actually want.

The academic day runs on Frog Street

Grace uses Frog Street as our early childhood curriculum. It's a real, research-based program you can Google tonight — language and literacy, math, social-emotional development, and physical development mapped in age-appropriate blocks. Every classroom, from infants to Kinder Bridge, runs on Frog Street. That's the majority of the day, and it's what handles the academic milestones Aledo ISD kindergarten teachers expect from incoming students.

I want to be clear: Frog Street is not a Christian curriculum. It's a secular, research-based early childhood framework. Grace is a Christian preschool that uses Frog Street, not a school that teaches "Christian Frog Street." The academic curriculum and the faith identity are two different things, working alongside each other.

What faith looks like around the academic day

Faith at Grace is present in the rhythms of the day, not layered on as a curriculum overlay. Specifically:

Mealtime prayer, every day

Every mealtime begins with a short, age-appropriate prayer. It's brief, warm, and consistent — part of how meals happen here. Even the youngest classrooms hear it modeled at every meal, which is how the youngest kids first learn to fold their hands and wait.

Bible Wednesday, every week

Once a week, our classrooms have a dedicated Bible time — age-appropriate Bible content that fits the age of the room. It's a real slice of the week, not a passing mention. Kids learn to expect it, look forward to it, and (in the older rooms) contribute to it.

Christmas and Easter observed for what they mean

Around the two central Christian holidays, our classrooms observe the meaning — Christmas as the birth of Jesus, Easter as the resurrection — alongside the seasonal celebrations kids love. Thanksgiving includes a gratitude prayer. It's woven into the season, not tacked on.

The tone teachers set in ordinary moments

The single most important faith element at Grace isn't a scheduled lesson — it's how a teacher speaks to a toddler having a hard morning. The patience, the warm redirection, the language of kindness, honesty, and gratitude in ordinary moments. That tone is the character formation. What Grace does NOT do

I want to be as clear about what we don't do as what we do. Grace does not run a scripted daily faith curriculum. We don't open every day with a Bible verse recitation. Music time isn't specifically Christian songs. We don't have chapel time or daily devotionals. The faith practice at Grace is the daily rhythms and the environment, not a curriculum overlay on top of academics.

Some Christian preschools DO run a scripted faith curriculum, and that's a legitimate model — just a different one. If that's what your family wants, tour a program that offers it. If what you want is a warm Christian environment around a strong academic day, Grace is built for that.

Why we do it this way

Two reasons. First, honesty: I don't want to promise something we don't do. If a family enrolls expecting a Bible-first curriculum and finds a Frog Street academic day with faith in the rhythms, that's a mismatch. I'd rather be clear up front. Second, philosophy: at ages 6 weeks to 6 years, character forms more through what children experience in ordinary moments than through what they're taught in structured lessons. The tone teachers bring to the day, the rituals of prayer and Bible time, the way holidays are observed — those things shape a child's expectations about the world more deeply than a curriculum block ever could.
