Our Story

OUR HISTORY

Every Detail Designed With Health And Safety In Mind

The story of Grace Learning Tree is one of passion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to nurturing young minds in the Aledo community. Founded in 2019 by Josh and Dawn Wright, the school began as a response to a growing need Dawn saw for quality Early Childhood Education and Kindergarten Preparation. Dawn’s role on the Aledo Education Foundation Board and her experience with the Leadership team of Aledo ISD opened her eyes to this critical need, inspiring her to create a preschool where children could thrive and families felt embraced

With the guidance of trusted mentors, Dawn took on the challenge of founding a preschool that would feel like a second home. Grace Learning Tree first opened its doors in a small, six-classroom building on July 22, 2019, with the support of her childhood best friend’s family. From the beginning, Grace Learning Tree flourished, even navigating the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19. Through determination, community support, and a shared vision, the school continued to grow and reach capacity.

By late 2020, the growing waitlist made it clear that Grace Learning Tree was ready for a new chapter. Dawn and Josh, committed to serving every family searching for a nurturing and enriching early education, set out to find a larger, state-of-the-art home for the school. When Josh found the perfect location, Dawn poured her heart into designing a space that would inspire and nurture children’s growth and development.

With an incredible team by her side, they built the new Grace Learning Tree campus, a place designed to foster wonder, learning, and a strong sense of community. The new building opened on August 22, 2022, and stands as a testament to the dedication, love, and vision that have driven Grace Learning Tree from the start.

Today, Grace Learning Tree isn’t just a school—it’s a family, a community, and a place where each child feels valued and supported. We invite you to become part of our journey and join the Grace Learning Tree family, where every child’s future begins with love, learning, and a sense of belonging.

Grace Learning Tree’s team goal is to provide a unique, safe, caring experience for your child. Boredom is not allowed.

WHAT IS A NAME

The History behind our Schools name, Grace Learning Tree

At Grace Learning Tree, our name is a tribute to legacy, learning, and family. “Grace” is inspired by Dawn’s beloved Great-Grandmother, a woman who instilled in her family a deep sense of community and compassion. Growing up, Dawn was blessed with the rare gift of spending meaningful time with her Great-Grandmother, whose strength and kindness shaped Dawn’s own values. Grace was a true matriarch—respected, cherished, and deeply engaged in her community of San Angelo. Her spirit of service lives on in Dawn’s commitment to building a place where children are loved, nurtured, and encouraged to grow.

“Learning” reflects our dedication to building a foundation for young minds to flourish. Here, we cherish every opportunity to encourage growth, curiosity, and confidence. We believe in embracing each child’s journey and fostering a lifelong love of learning in these critical early years.

“Tree” stands for family—the roots of support, strength, and connection we nurture with every family that joins our school. Just as trees grow and flourish with care, every child at Grace Learning Tree is surrounded by a “village” that cares deeply for them. Dawn often says, “It takes a village,” and we are honored to be a part of that village for your family.

At Grace Learning Tree, we’re not just a school—we’re a family, dedicated to your child’s growth, joy, and discovery. We invite you to become a part of our extended family and share in this journey together.
